Access point name the Lord

I came across a gematria calculator after watching a video on YouTube on it (it was one of those late night “how did I end up here” type of YouTube adventures). In numerology, gematria is defined as:

“the practice of assigning a numerical value to a name, word or phrase by reading it as a number, or sometimes by using an alphanumerical cipher.”

When I put my name into the calculator I get:

Some words that have the same numerical values as my name include:

- Revolver

- God the father

- Field of dreams

- Access point name the Lord

- Purest point

- I’m sorry

Since the mathematical relationship/numerical value of these words and my name has always “been”, I found myself looking for the connections between these words and myself. Could they have some sort of significance? I don’t think the answer is as important as the exercise here. Putting plausibility aside, I saw this as more of an exercise of curiosity.

When digging a bit deeper into gematria, I read about eerie patterns between words. Gematria hints at the notion that there is a connection between verbal information based on a universal interpretive pattern. In the same way that computers process information into binary code; words, concepts, and events even can also be reduced to numbers. By exploring the connections between the words, it makes us reinterpret original meanings, deepening our understanding by adding layers of context.

Applied to design: instead of focusing so much on the patterns that we can see, I’m interested in exploring more of the underlying structures that we can’t see. For example, rhythms in brand messaging acting like anchors and the cadence of storytelling. If invisible connections are embedded into a brand’s identity through numerical patterns, linguistics or even through subconscious harmony, they can create a coherence that is felt rather than explicitly seen; reinforcing meaning in a way that resonates more intuitively with the viewer.

This could result in designs systems that feel more organic but is incredibly intentional, functioning on an almost subconscious level where meaning and recognition emerge through patterns we might not directly perceive.

To be continued...

Building Delmour New York

In 2024, I started a project called Delmour New York with the intention of selling high quality nailwear that focuses on cohesive collections and original designs. Rooted in the words “delicate armour” delmour represents the delicate and finely detailed nature of the designs balanced with values like honor, resilience, and inner strength.

Unlike conventional artificial nails, Delmour is not about imitation, it’s about highlighting the beauty of feminine qualities. The designs are crafted with immense precision. Every detail is considered, from the finishes to the fine-tuned sculptural silhouettes that are designed to flatter every hand.

I believe that beauty is both a ritual and transformation. Delmour is for those who seek more than just aesthetics, it’s for people who understand that transformation is power.

This is Delmour, delicate, yet invincible.

Delmour gift boxes:

I believed strongly that nail appliqués, as an alternative to the more expensive and personalized experience of visiting a nail technician, deserved packaging that elevated the overall experience to feel equally luxurious and thoughtful.

I designed an unboxing experience that builds anticipation - from untying the ribbon to peeling back layers of paper packaging, each step is carefully considered to create a sense of discovery and excitement before finally unveiling the product.

I also prioritized creating packaging that was immediately distinguishable as part of a branded experience. The goal was to ensure that using nail appliqués would never feel like a compromise compared to a salon visit. Instead, it should evoke the same sense of indulgence and care, offering the user a moment of self-gifting and joy.

It is intended that the brand is first and fore-most a celebration of the feminine experience and that the collections are an exploration of girlhood and womanhood. But it was important to me that the brand doesn’t rely on cliche’s of what “femininity” should feel like and that there was a sense of deep emotionality and sometimes even a subtle seriousness that I believe is highly relatable to the feminine experience. I wanted this not to be overtly seen, but deeply felt in the undertones of the branding and imagery.
There’s nothing I love more than hearing from customers that wearing Delmour nails makes them feel beautiful and confident. It’s this feeling that fuels my passion for the brand.

The project is still in its early stages, but I’m excited to see it taking shape and am deeply grateful for the positive reception the brand and products have received so far. I am working with purpose and dedication to foster the growth and success of Delmour.

If you’re interested in this project or would like to explore creative collaboration, I’d love to hear from you - please don’t hesitate to reach out.

“Dreams are messages from the deep”

I’ve been thinking about dreams lately.

Recollecting a dreams reminds me a lot of smelling a familiar scent. It’s rarely ever words that flash across my mind, it’s always particular feelings first, often contradicting ones bottled up together, the best I can do is summarize is at as: something lived, accompanied with a sequence of imagery.

Even the strangest and most illogical of dreams, the ones that are very hard to verbalize, can be vaguely felt in the body as if the mind and body knows the essence of the experience even if it can’t remember the context.

I assume the reason the feeling of the dreams stick with us so strongly despite not “remembering” the dream anymore is because the dreams spoke in our own subconscious language, making the dream extremely visceral. Like speaking a language even more native than our native tongue as it’s using things we’ve uniquely seen and experienced as a way to project messages/scenarios back to us (I don’t think its always in meaningful ways but sometimes it is).

This makes me think of visual identity. A strong identity must hit something beyond consistent colors or imagery, something deeper; like a resonance, an ability to bypass rational thought and reach something instinctual. I think this is why some artworks, films, or songs, feel almost inevitable like it always existed. You don’t question its authenticity. It goes beyond the articulation of a presence, its the direct imprint on the mind.

Despite having never lived half of the things that occur in my dreams or even understanding half the things i’m seeing, I know from the feeling they are undoubtedly and uniquely mine. Like an alignment of sorts between knowing and feeling.

How much can we distort the silhouettes of an identity until it becomes unrecognizable?
How loosely can we define something while still knowing its presence?
